Boozin’ and snoozin’ lands MC woman in jail

MASON CITY – For the second time in the past few days, police arrested a sleeping woman inside a car.

Police responded to a call before 9:00 AM about a suspicious person at 310 North Taft Avenue. Upon arrival, a woman was discovered to be sleeping inside a car at that location, which is private property. Police determined that the woman inside the car, 24-year-old Krista Jean Conroy, was intoxicated and she was taken to jail.  Conroy was charged with public intoxication.

On Thursday, police were called to investigate a woman nodding off in her car that was parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  Upon arrival, police investigated and determined that the driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Melody Rae Mcgurk of Mason City, was in possession of methamphetamine. She was arrested, jailed and later released.

Was she hurting anyone? If she had to much to drink and knew she shouldn’t be driving, and pulled over to sleep it off she should be congratulated, not arrested and taken to jail. It is the same thing they do to people who decide to walk home from a bar who have drank to much to drive. They arrest them for being good citizen’s. It is all about the money and not to protect and serve. If they are not a danger to themselves or other’s leave them alone.

I agree with you LVS. Many people do the right thing and leave their car at the bar, only to be arrested walking home. They are not harming anyone, just doing the right thing.
