MASON CITY – A Mason City man allegedly beat up the parents of his girlfriend this morning at their house, then fled the scene before he was caught and arrested by cops.
According to police, at 4:49 AM Friday morning, officers were called to 123 5th Street NW to investigate an assault. Kevin Joseph Arndt, age 30, had reportedly assaulted the parents of his girlfriend. The two parents had minor injuries. They had locked the door to their house, but it was said that Arndt had a key. After a brief investigation, police prepared citations against Arndt, who had fled the scene.
However, Arndt wasn’t finished. Hours later, at about 8:30 AM, he reportedly returned to the address and got in a verbal argument with his girlfriend. A person called police, and Arndt fled the scene once again. Police found him a couple blocks away and arrested him on charges of assault causing injury and serious assault. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time on $1,000 cash or surety bond.
In 2012, Arndt was the subject of a standoff at his Mason City house after his dog attacked a police officer, who then fired his weapon at the dog, but missed.
