Waterloo man in critical condition after being stabbed in back; one arrested

WATERLOO – Police in Waterloo are investigating a stabbing incident Thursday that left one man hospitalized.

Police reported that on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at approximately 2:38 PM, officers were dispatched to the Covenant Medical Center Emergency Department on a report of a stabbing victim. The victim, Ramell Desha McQueen, age 27, of 1240 Downing Court, Waterloo, was taken to Covenant by witnesses.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned that McQueen had been stabbed during an altercation outside of 1240 Downing Court. McQueen was stabbed several times in the back and was taken into surgery for life threatening injuries.

Police have arrested Damarus Jamel Taylor, age 25, of 320 East 7th Street, Waterloo, IA. He has been charged with Willful Injury.
