STORM LAKE – A residence in the Buena Vista county town of Albert City was recently burglarized, and two arrests were made, police reported.
According to Buena Vista County Sheriff Doug Simons, on April 18, 2014 a report of a burglary to a residence in Albert City was made to the Sheriff’s Office. Taken in the burglary were numerous firearms, electronics and military uniforms.
A joint investigation of the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office with the Laurens Police Department and the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office into this incident has resulted in the arrest of a male and female from Marathon, Iowa. Douglas Strange, age 28 of Marathon, was arrested April 21, 2014 in Laurens, Iowa by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office. Heidi Holston, age 26 of Marathon, Iowa, was arrested in connection with this investigation after a search warrant was executed at her residence in Marathon.
During the course of the joint investigation the stolen weapons were recovered, along with some other stolen property from the burglary in both Buena Vista and Pocahontas Counties. Total value of the items that were stolen was estimated at over $3000.00. Heidi Holston has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Holston is currently being held in the Buena Vista County Jail. Douglas Strange has been charged with four counts of Trafficking in Stolen Firearms, Theft 2nd Degree and Burglary in the 3rd Degree. Strange is being held in the Buena Vista County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
The investigation into this incident is continuing and more arrests are expected.
