Iowa City police search for men who robbed taxi cab driver

Police Car LightsIOWA CITY – Police in Iowa City are searching for two black males who assaulted a female cab driver this past weekend.

On April 6, 2014, at 2:54am,the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center (JECC) received a report of a cab driver who was assaulted as she attempted to pick up a fare in the area of the 1000 block of 5th Ave Iowa City, IA. The report described the assailants as two black males who fled the area in an unknown direction of travel. The Iowa City Police Department flooded the area, with the assistance of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, and were unable to locate the suspects. The victim was able to report that she was struck from behind with an unknown object and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. The victim was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance to the University of Iowa hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. This matter remains under investigation.
