Car accident causes damage to Taco John’s landscaping

MASON CITY – A man who allegedly ran a red light caused an accident that damaged two vehicles, landscaping at a fast food restaurant and sent a man to the hospital.

According to police, on February 10th at about 10:11 AM, Joseph Fritz of Mason City was driving a Ford pickup southbound on 500 block S Federal. Ronald Behne of Nora Springs was eastbound on 6th Street SW, approaching the intersection of Highway 122 and Highway 65. Fritz allegedly ran a red traffic signal at the intersection and collided with Behne’s Nisan as it traveled into the intersection. Following the impact, Fritz’s truck traveled into the retaining wall along the SE corner of the intersection. Fritz was cited for Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device. Behne was transported to Mercy ER by the MCFD for evaluation.
