Big smile: Woman pleads guilty to felony theft; prison, fine suspended

MASON CITY – A local woman plead guilty to a range of charges – one of them felony theft – and is serving 21 days at this time in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Darcy Lynn Chase, age 33, plead guilty on December 16th to felony D second degree theft and fifth degree theft. She had a 5 year prison term and a $750 fine suspended and received 7 days in jail. She was also found guilty of a probation violation related to a previous theft conviction and was dealt 14 days in jail. In addition, Chase plead guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance after being charged with five counts of illegal possession of prescription medication after an arrest by Mason City police as part of a sting by the North Iowa Narcotics Task Force.

Chase is also awaiting a court date on a charge of fourth degree theft brought by Mason City police.

Chase is serving 21 days total but is allowed to leave for work and school, court records indicate.

I am from North Iowa and this is the first time I have to “log in” to much of a pain in the butt so I will just delete you.

The money isn’t as big an issue as the sign in. Signing in means we couldn’t voice an opinion about cannabis without worrying about giving away our info to LEO.

I don’t believe they need your personal information to trace you. I am sure they have ways to do it.

@scott-all you have to do is tell the system to remember you and it does. Not a big deal at all.
