Security cameras catch woman stealing from hotel room

OMAHA – Hotel security cameras helped nab a woman who was leaving her hotel room with numerous items that belonged to the hotel.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Omaha, Nebraska said Thursday that Terrie Whitman, age 48 of Norfolk, Nebraska, was sentenced by United States Magistrate Judge Thomas D. Thalken for her conviction for theft from the Ohiya Casino and Resort, located in northeast Nebraska. Whitman was sentenced to a term of probation of two years and she was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $884.00. Three other defendants in the case have pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

On March 9, 2013, Whitman and her three co-defendants were staying at the Ohiya Casino and Resort on the Santee Sioux Indian Reservation. The group was observed on surveillance video taking numerous items out of the room including curtains, pillows, blankets, sheets, mattress pads, towels, a clock radio and an iron. Resort management placed a value of $884.00 on the items taken.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
