MASON CITY – The reaction to Goldie’s story has been truly unbelievable! It’s gone national (technically international as we have received a message from a woman in Sydney, Austrailia stating that she has room on her 5 acre farm for Goldie)
We have received phone calls and e-mails from multiple states coast to coast and the story has been shared in numerous newspapers and on radio stations across the country, including online news sites like msnbc.com
Monetary donations through paypal have come in from PA, TX, WV, and of course lots from throughout the state of IA and locally.
However, all of this activity has NOT gone to Goldie’s head. She has not become a doggy diva! She is still a fun-loving beautiful girl who longs for a loving home and a family to call her own….and perhaps a few tennis balls! (she IS a retreiver after all!)
As for her adoption, the applications are pouring in as well! We have decided to accept applications through the end of this week to ensure that anyone who wants the opportunity, gets the chance to apply. Then our Shelter Manager will have the daunting task of going through each and every one to determine which one can provide the most appropriate home for Goldie!
One thing I would like to remind interested parties (if the opportunity exists), while it almost guaranteed now that Goldie is going to find her adoptive forever home, dozens of other loving and deserving dogs remain in our shelter that our all looking for homes, and literally thousands await in rescue shelters across the country for their families to come adopt them.
