Mason City’s Finance Department recognized for excellence

MASON CITY – Mason City’s Finance Department was recognized for excellence in financial reporting at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.

Kevin Jacobson, Mason City Finance Director, accepted the award on behalf of the department.  This award was the 26th overall the department has earned, and the 16th under the direction of Jacobson.

The Finance Department administers the City’s finances, Information Technology Coordinator, Geographic Information System Analyst and maintains the City’s financial records; which includes monthly records of receipts, expenditure, and account receivable billings as well as payments to vendors.  The Finance Department also performs bi-weekly payroll for the City’s 293 full-time and part-time employees.
