“I’ll give you two hours to return my money!” man yells before being arrested

Robert Alan Blau gets arrested on Thanksgiving morning by Mason City police.

by Jody Spear and Kelly Meyer –

MASON CITY – Early Thursday morning, the Mason City Police Department was investigating a complaint from a male who claimed he was robbed at knife point in the vicinity of the Kum and Go gas station at 1224 N. Federal.

The alleged victim, later identified as 30 year-old Robert Alan Blau, was asked by police to fill out a complaint at the police station, but refused and departed, saying that he would take matters into his own hands.

Mason City Police followed Blau to 22 N. Connecticut Avenue. Blau was convinced that the man that he claims robbed him, Felix Arp, was in that house.

Blau said, “I know Felix Arp is in there. He robbed hundreds of dollars from me and my girlfriend. On Thanksgiving, can you believe that?”

Blau believed a man he claims robbed him was in this house, located at 22 N. Conn

Blau appeared very upset. He wanted to go into the house and into the white van parked out front. “My cell phone and some other stuff are in the van, but the police won’t let me get in it because I didn’t sign the complaint.”

Blau was pacing, explaining to the police officers his side of the story. When police left, the man yelled at the house, “I’ll give you two hours to return my money.”

Blau then went into the white van, apparently looking for his possessions.

Mason City Police officers arrived and arrested Blau, charging him with interference with official acts.  Blau was still being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail Thursday evening.

According to records, Blau is a convicted felon who owes Iowa courts thousands of dollars in fines, fees and restitution to victims.  Records also indicate that just last week, Blau was arrested by Clear Lake police for operating a vehicle without the owners consent, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts.  Blau has also been found guilty of lying to police officers in Mason City.

Yes Mr. Arp is wanted for escaping from Beje Clark. Typical Mason City police work. A victim is a victim no matter what their past is. In this case the victim got arrested while the suspect gets to stay on the run. Nice work MCPD, Nice work.

Let’s see, Blau complains that Arp has stolen some money. He is given the chance to make a formal complaint/statement; but decline to do so (giving up his chance for a legal settlement of his claim). For the MCPD this investigation is over. Blau by not making the statement has tied they hands. Now Blau ENTERS Arp’s vehicle (a criminal act), and Blau is arrested. Arp is now the victim and Blau is charged with a crime.

Then again the guy in cuffs was arrested last week for stealing a car. So in the end a thief got stuff stolen from him by another thief does that sum it up.

Isn’t Felix Arp currently wanted for escaping from Beje Clark?
