MASON CITY – Alliant Energy, the Lime Creek Nature Center, and the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board are teaming up to offer “Operation ReLeaf!”
This program provides low-cost, high-quality and diverse landscape trees from local nurseries. The goal is to reduce energy consumption through proper tree placement around buildings. Alliant energy subsidizes the cost of trees for its customers, and the landscape trees are $25.00 per tree for a #5, #7, or #10 container grown tree. About 275 trees will be distributed at the Lime Creek Nature Center.
“This is an exceptional opportunity, as these trees are high quality trees which retail between $65 and $120.00 per tree,” Lime Creek said in a news release.
Since 2001, more than 45,341 new trees have been planted throughout the state of Iowa during 119 Operation ReLeaf events.
Advance purchase is recommended, and customers are limited to 2 trees per household.
Trees must be picked up on September 27 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Lime Creek Nature Center.
To participate in this program, call the Lime Creek Nature Center at 641-423-5309 to ask for an application form, or see http://www.alliantenergy.com/
