MASON CITY – A NIACC campus safety and security document shows a serious spike in two major crime areas.
According to the document, on-campus disciplinary actions / judicial referrals for liquor law violations rose from 26 in 2010 to 38 in 2011 and reached 55 in 2012.
On-campus disciplinary actions / judicial referrals for drug violations were 1 in 2010, 4 in 2011 and reached 17 in 2012.
On-campus disciplinary actions / judicial referrals for illegal weapons possessions were 0 in 2010, 5 in 2011 and just one in 2012.
Other on-campus criminal offenses were negligible, all at zero for all three years except for burglary, of which there were 4 reported in 2012.
Also, criminal offenses for on-campus at the residence halls were negligible. Only one one offense in 2012 was reported, a non-forcible sex offense.
Liquor law violations are considered a “major crime”?
I wonder the same thing. How do they arrive at these numbers.
Do they search rooms there or? Just curious how they find out this stuff.
