MASON CITY – With the next Mason City Moto Race at the North Iowa Events Center less than a week away, practicing is happening almost everyday on the dirt track provided by Clausen Racing LLC & Mason City Honda owner Curt Clausen.
On particular sunny day, six year old twins Dakota and Dylan Hjelle, sons of Jennifer and Jake Hjelle and cousin, Lukas Kloster, also six, son of John and Jennifer Kloster, were out doing lap after lap getting ready for their very first competition.

“Been out here practicing over ten times, getting ready for their first race,” said John Kloster.
At the time, they only had two dirt bikes, “We’re hoping to get another one, or one of my boys won’t get to compete,” said Jennifer Hjelle. “Right now, they are taking turns with the two bikes.”
They boys are really excited for their first race and were having fun practicing, until one of the bikes throttle broke. The mechanic (or fathers) looked at it and the day of practicing was done. “We’ll have to take it home and fix it,” they said.
“We would like to thank Honda Motor Sports for having the track out there so that we are able to ride,” said Jennifer Hjelle. “The boys have really taken a liking to it and love to go out there as much as possible!!”
The next Mason City Moto race at the North Iowa Events Center is August 19 at 11:00 am. Tickets are $8.00 and kids under 5 are free. Tickets can be purchased at Mason City Honda or the day of the event. The last race is scheduled for September 22, 2012.
