MASON CITY – A plane landed safely in a cornfield northeast of Mason City Wednesday afternoon.

There were two persons on board, who suffered only scrapes and bruises.

The incident took place near 24688 Pheasant Avenue.

NIT reporters were told that the plane was on its way to the Mason City airport when the pilots decided that the plane might not make it there due to engine trouble, so the plane was brought down.
