MASON CITY – A Mason City fire truck was damaged on October 6th in a corn field fire near the IOOF Home.
“The corn field stalk came up under the engine and caught fire,” City Administrator Brent Trout told the city council in a newsletter.
“The damage was not severe but but is expensive to repair. The estimate to repair is $4,200 and is being repaired at the Mason City ford Dealership.”
Trout also said that paint was damaged on the fire truck, an F550 field fire truck.
He also said that the expenses related to the repairs will be submitted to the police department in order to seek restitution from the juveniles charged with setting the fire.
“The city has a $500 deductible for this damage and the insurance company will pursue the juveniles regarding possible restitution for this expense.”
