MASON CITY – On Tuesday, October 25th, David Dow was sentenced to 6 month at Beje Clark a local residence treatment center, Iowa sex offender registry for life, three years of probation, and a five year suspended prison sentence by Judge Bryan McKinley after a negotiated voluntary plea to sex offender residency violation 2nd offense a class D felony on August 31st.
David Dow has been held in the Cerro Gordo County jail since being arrested by Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s deputies in June for living within 2000 feet of a school or daycare on Main Street in Dougherty, Iowa.
David Dow was required to register as a tier three sex offender after being convicted in Minnesota in October 2000 for 5th degree criminal sex conduct with a minor no more than 13 years of age. David Dow was convicted again for 5th degree criminal sex conduct with a minor no more than 13 years of age in August 2004 in Minnesota.
Iowa court records show David Dow was charged in July 2008 in Cerro Gordo County for failure to register as a sex offender 2nd offense a class D felony. The charge was dismissed after Dow was indicted on federal charges instead.
Dow is still being held in the Cerro Gordo County jail on a US Marshal’s hold according to the Cerro Gordo County Jail population report.
