NIT to moderate Hampton council-mayor candidate forum

Hampton SignHAMPTON, IOWA – Details have been announced for the 2011 Hampton Election Candidates’ Forum to be held Thursday, October 27th at 7pm at the Hampton United Methodist Church, which will be moderated by NorthIowaToday.com Publisher Matt Marquardt.

The forum will feature all registered candidates on the City of Hampton ballot for the November 8th election. The co-hosts of the event will be Pat Palmer of The Computer Guy in Hampton and Matt Marquardt of the NorthIowaToday.com in Mason City. The event will be live streamed on the internet by our various sponsoring entities, including www.NorthIowaToday.com and www.AmplifiedEvents.com. The event will also be recorded to provide viewing anytime before the election.

The Format will be as follows: (Each candidate will have 5 minutes)
Candidate Self Introduction – The candidates will have a chance to talk about their background.

“Hot Topics” – A randomly picked topic dealing with an issue that has been discussed over the last 4 years by the public, media or council and mayor. The Hot Topic will be drawn prior to the forum.

Opposing Viewpoints – Candidates will have the chance to ask their opponent one question.

Final Thoughts – Each candidate will give a wrap up on why they would be the best choice for Hampton.

The public is encouraged to attend the event or tune in online. A Facebook group has also been created to help publicize the event with each candidate pre-recording a statement for that site as well. Candidates will be available after the event to talk to their supporters as well. The Hampton Citywide election is November 8th.
