MASON CITY – The East Park band shell renovation project is nearly complete.
Larson Contracting has completed most of their work on the project. The second phase of the project currently near completion involved the restoration of the exterior to its original design, including: proscenium, shell, siding walls, doors, roofing, and lighting. Future work involves the replacement of the stage thrust, interior restoration, and landscaping.
Janice Easley (picture, below, in front of the band shell) helped raise thousands of dollars to help the project get completed.
Also, Ed Wineinger donated about $20,000 to help the project and was recently given an award for his efforts from the Friends of the Band Shell organization. Wineinger’s donation helped secure a State Historical Society grant.
