Tim Latham has announced today that he is running for the 1st ward seat on the Mason City City Council. Latham said his campaign will be “low key” and if elected he will work to bring jobs to the area while focusing on a fiscally sound city budget.| Tim Latham has announced today that he is running for the 1st ward seat on the Mason City City Council. Latham said his campaign will be “low key” and if elected he will work to bring jobs to the area while focusing on a fiscally sound city budget.
The seat is currently held by Jeff Marsters. Marsters has not yet revealed whether he will run for re-election.
Latham says his goals if elected are as follows:
– To work to bring jobs to our area. (He says that all of North Iowa benefits when Mason City as well as surrounding towns land a new employer. He wants to promote all of North Iowa whenever possible.)
– To work with the North Iowa Corridor and insure city support to help bring jobs to our area.
– To make sure that our city is financially sound and fiscally sound
– To work to create a a positive image of our city
– To enrich the quality of life in our city
Latham, 55, is a long-time real estate agent and investor who grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1974. Latham owns Furniture Mattress Outlet and sells real estate through Hildebrand Real Estate. He is currently vice president of the of the Mason City Board of Realtors. Latham was a president of the Mason City Youth Baseball Association and helped to build the current baseball complex on Mason City’ north end during the 1990’s.
