SHEFFIELD — Paul David Mull, 94, of Sheffield and formerly of Greene, died Friday, October 23, 2026, at Sheffield Care Center. A farmer, carpenter and missionary, Paul made his Christian faith the foundation of a life devoted to family, church and service to others.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2026, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home, 1205 South Main Street in Charles City. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Faith Baptist Church in Mason City, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Matt Reeves and Pastor Tim Moore will officiate. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

Paul was born July 30, 1932, in Rudd, the son of Chester E. Mull and Ada Ruth Darter. He completed his education at Wessington Springs Christian Academy in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.

At 13, Paul embraced the Christian faith that would guide him throughout his life. His commitment extended from raising his children and serving his local church to missionary work in Ukraine and ministry to people he met along the way.

Farming and carpentry gave Paul opportunities to put his abilities to work. He was dedicated to the land and skilled at building, but even demanding work schedules had a boundary: Sundays belonged to worship and family.

At age 17, Paul married Verna B. Scandrett, his sweetheart and closest companion. They raised two children, Linda R. Heinold and Vernon Paul Mull. Over the years, their family grew to include grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his wife, Verna B. Mull; daughter, Linda (David) Heinold; and grandchildren Misti (Tod) Ryal, Jennifer (Shayne) Skellenger, Rachel Heinold and Dustin (Sandra) Heinold.

His great-grandchildren are Joshua Ryal, Jordan (Ben) Klinefelter, Gabrielle Ryal, Chloe (Alex) Hitt, Trystin (Jacob) Uilk, Parker Skellenger, Aliyah (Grayson) Richert, Titus Heinold and Silas Heinold. His great-great-grandchildren are twins Eleanor and Wilhelmina Klinefelter, Dorothy Belle Klinefelter and Mabel Uilk.

Also surviving are his in-laws, Myron Brink and Faye Mull, along with many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his son, Vernon Paul Mull; parents, Chester and Ruth Mull; parents-in-law, Allen and Mabel Scandrett; and siblings Velma Brink, Margaret (Doodles) Stewart and Roger Mull.

In honoring Paul’s life, his family chose Matthew 25:23, a passage celebrating faithful service and entering the joy of the Lord. It reflects the conviction that shaped his work, his relationships and his service both close to home and overseas.

Family and friends may share condolences through Paul’s obituary at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home.
