CLEAR LAKE — Firefighters extricated a Cedar Falls man from his semi-truck after it left a highway ramp, rolled into a ditch and came to rest on its passenger side early Thursday, October 22.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and Clear Lake Fire Department were dispatched at approximately 3:30 a.m. to the Highway 18 off-ramp connecting to the Interstate 35 southbound on-ramp near Clear Lake.
According to the sheriff’s office, Kendall Ray Naber, 61, of Cedar Falls, was traveling west on Highway 18 and entered the off-ramp when he lost control of the semi. The truck traveled into the ditch and rolled before stopping on its passenger side.
Clear Lake firefighters extricated Naber from the cab. Clear Lake Fire Department personnel then transported him to Mercy Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The release did not specify the severity of his injuries or what caused him to lose control.
The crash occurred at an interchange recently covered by NIT when southbound I-35 ramp closures near Clear Lake were announced for October 19 pavement repairs. The sheriff’s release did not identify any connection between that work and Thursday’s crash.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Clear Lake Fire Department/EMS and the Clear Lake Police Department assisted.
