BELMOND — Roselia “Rosa” Hernandez-Urbina, 70, of Belmond, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, leaving behind a family strengthened by her generosity, unwavering Catholic faith and lifelong devotion to those she loved.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 16, at 11 a.m. at Epiphany Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church, 300 5th Street SE, Mason City, with the Rev. Peter Binder officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation and public viewing will take place Friday at the church from 9 to 11 a.m.

Born April 19, 1956, in Michoacán, Mexico, Rosa was the eldest of 12 children born to Juan Hernandez and Maria Guadalupe Urbina. When her mother died during Rosa’s younger years, she took on the responsibility of caring for her younger brothers and sisters and helping maintain the family home. That early experience helped shape a lifetime of putting the needs of others before her own.

Rosa married Priciliano Guido, and together they raised five children. The family eventually settled in Belmond, where she worked for many years at Sparboe Farms before retiring.

Family was always at the center of Rosa’s world. She found happiness in tending her garden, taking long walks, preparing meals for loved ones and bringing everyone together around the table. Time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was especially precious to her.

Her Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. Rosa devoted time to reading Scripture, praying and finding peace in quiet moments with God. She also had a special affection for angels, surrounding herself with reminders of their comforting presence.

Those closest to Rosa knew a woman whose cheerful spirit, gratitude and generosity shone through in everyday life. From caring for her siblings as a young girl in Mexico to building a home and raising a family in Northern Iowa, she lived with a steady commitment to faith, family and unconditional love.

Survivors include her husband, Priciliano Guido; children Juan Guido, Anna Gonzalez, Yuli Maldonado and Eduardo Guido; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her father, Juan Hernandez; siblings Delores Hernandez, Antonia Hernandez, Angelica Hernandez, Rene Hernandez, Juan Carlos Hernandez and Gerardo Hernandez; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Guadalupe Urbina; her son, Jose Guido; her grandson, Elvin Gonzalez; and her brothers Raul Hernandez, Jose Luis Hernandez and Pedro Hernandez.
