SPIRIT LAKE — Stanley Eugene Sievert, 85, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Lakefield, Minnesota, passed away October 8, 2026, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, leaving behind a lifetime of service to his country, dedication to his community, and cherished memories made with family in the great outdoors.
Private family services will be held in Stanley’s honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lakefield Lions Club, PO Box 643, Lakefield, MN 56150, or the Lakefield Fire Department, PO Box 900, Lakefield, MN 56150.
Born November 13, 1940, in Jackson County, Minnesota, Stanley was the son of Albert and Anna (Junker) Sievert. He was baptized at Evangelical Lutheran Church on December 1, 1940, and graduated from Lakefield Public High School in 1959.
His faith remained an important part of his life. Originally confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Stanley was later confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakefield on November 7, 1983, sharing that meaningful occasion with his son Scott, who was confirmed the same day.
In 1960, Stanley answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy. During four years of military service, he worked as a dental technician with the Fleet Marine Force.
His military journey took him from boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois to Camp Pendleton in California and the Marine Corps Air Station at Kaneohe Bay on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
After completing his military service in 1964, Stanley returned to Lakefield and began working at First National Bank.
In 1977, he took a leap into entrepreneurship, establishing the Stan Sievert Agency, a business specializing in real estate, insurance and appraisals. Through his work, he became a familiar presence in the Lakefield business community.
Stanley married Joanne Svoboda, and together they built a life in Lakefield, raising two sons, Scott and Bradley, and a daughter, Andrea.
His commitment to his hometown extended well beyond his business. Stanley served as a member of the Lakefield Fire Department, participated in the Lakefield Lions Club and served on the Lakefield Public Utilities board.
Those organizations reflected a man willing to give his time and energy to the community he called home for much of his life.
Away from work and civic responsibilities, Stanley found some of his greatest happiness outdoors.
An enthusiastic fisherman and hunter, he especially enjoyed duck and deer hunting. Some of his most treasured experiences were the hunting trips he shared with his sons and grandsons, passing along an appreciation for the outdoors and the traditions that brought generations of the family together.
He also took pride in watching his grandsons compete in trap shooting meets.
When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, Stanley could often be found cheering for the Minnesota Vikings or Minnesota Twins. He also enjoyed climbing aboard his Harley-Davidson motorcycle for shorter trips, embracing the freedom of the open road.
Throughout his 85 years, Stanley built a life centered on family, hard work, community involvement and the enjoyment of simple pleasures.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Sievert of Spirit Lake; sons, Scott (Kelly) Sievert of Spirit Lake and Bradley (Lucrecia) Sievert of Jackson, Minnesota; daughter, Andrea (Scott) Risdal of Spirit Lake; grandsons, Brigham Sievert, Zachary Mann and Kasen Mann; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Family members and friends may share memories and condolences through Turner Jenness Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
From his military service to his years as a Lakefield businessman and volunteer, Stanley Sievert leaves a lasting example of community spirit, determination and devotion to those he loved. His legacy will live on in the family traditions he helped create and the many lives he touched along the way.
