UPDATE: Sheffield man identified as motorcyclist significantly injured in Mason City crash

MASON CITY — The Iowa State Patrol has identified the motorcyclist who suffered significant injuries after losing control and crashing Monday afternoon in Mason City. An updated crash report names the rider as Todd Jeffrey Becker, 70, of Sheffield.

MASON CITY — The Iowa State Patrol has identified the motorcyclist who suffered significant injuries after losing control and crashing Monday afternoon in Mason City.

An updated crash report names the rider as Todd Jeffrey Becker, 70, of Sheffield.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:32 p.m. August 31, 2026, on northbound U.S. Highway 65 south of 43rd Street SW, within the Mason City limits.

Investigators said Becker was traveling north on a 2005 motorcycle when he lost control for an unknown reason. No other vehicles were listed as being involved.

Becker suffered significant injuries and was transported by Mason City Fire Department paramedics to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center for treatment.

NIT first reported the Mason City motorcycle crash Monday, before authorities released the rider’s identity.

Lake Towing removed the motorcycle from the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash. The Mason City Fire Department and Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
