HAWKEYE — Rex Allen Moore, 65, of Hawkeye, died Saturday, July 18, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Moore home, 235 W. Main St. in Hawkeye.
The family is asking those who attend to bring a written memory of Rex to share. Those unable to attend may send a memory through Facebook to Rex Moore’s family or mail it to P.O. Box 137, Hawkeye, Iowa 52147.
Rex was born February 26, 1961, in Salem, New Jersey, to Rodney and Janice (Homewood) Moore.
His early years took him across several communities. Rex spent part of his childhood in Hawkeye before his father’s military service during the Vietnam conflict led the family overseas. He later lived in California before returning to Iowa, eventually making homes in Hawkeye and Elgin.
He graduated from Valley High School in 1980.
On June 4, 1983, Rex married Amy Dallenbach at Eastside Church of Christ in Oelwein. The couple lived in Fayette and Elgin before settling in Hawkeye, where they built a life centered on family, hard work and service to others.
Rex worked for more than 11 years at ConAgra in Fredericksburg. He later began a 22-year career with Life Line Emergency Vehicles in Sumner, contributing to the production of vehicles used by emergency responders and communities across the country.
Away from work, Rex enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and repairing things. He was the kind of person who could often figure out how something worked and find a way to make it useful again.
His greatest happiness, however, came from the people around him.
Rex treasured time with his wife, children and grandchildren. His family also remembers the many children and families who entered Rex and Amy’s lives over the years and were welcomed with care, patience and generosity.
Rex is survived by his wife, Amy Moore of Hawkeye; children Tyler (Casey) Moore of Hawkeye, Trent (Shelby) Moore of Hawkeye, Sierra Moore of Des Moines, Roy (Anna) Moore of Elgin, Zandrea Moore of Oelwein, Zavier Moore of Oelwein and Angel Moore of Hawkeye; and six grandchildren, Benton, Henley and Madelyn Moore of Hawkeye, and Alvaro, Diego and Sebastian of Des Moines.
He is also survived by his sister, Kristina (Wes) Richards of Hawkeye; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lee (Benjamin Miller) Dallenbach of Cedar Falls, Andrea Dallenbach of Arlington and Bill (Rozann) Dallenbach of Volga; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Kirt, Larry and Scott Moore; brother-in-law Larry Dallenbach; nephew Michael Alderson; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Rex leaves behind the memory of a hardworking man who valued family above all else, enjoyed creating and repairing things with his hands and made room in his life for the many people who needed kindness and support.
