BUENA VISTA COUNTY — A Northern Iowa man was killed Sunday morning when his vehicle left a rural road, rolled into a ditch and came to rest in a cornfield, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened at 9:10 AM on June 21, 2026, on 480th Street east of M54 in Buena Vista County. Authorities identified the driver as Andrew Lincoln, 58, of Storm Lake.
According to the crash report, Lincoln was driving a 2007 Lincoln MKX eastbound on 480th Street when, for reasons not yet known, the vehicle left the roadway to the right and entered the south ditch. The vehicle then went into a rolling sequence and came to rest on the driver’s side in a cornfield.
Lincoln was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The report states Lincoln was wearing a seatbelt. His body was transported by Fratzke Funeral, and the vehicle was towed by Storm Lake Towing.
The Iowa State Patrol said the crash remains under investigation. Trooper Pratt handled the report, with assistance from the Iowa State Patrol, Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and Albert City personnel.
The fatal crash comes as Iowa has recorded 129 traffic fatalities so far in 2026, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s daily traffic fatality count. The DOT notes recent fatality totals are preliminary and can change as crash investigations are completed.
