FAYETTE — Michael David Alderson, 44, of Fayette, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 19, 2026, at his home.
Michael was born August 31, 1981, at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Iowa, to Michael L. Alderson and Kristina Moore Richards. His life was rooted in northeast Iowa, where family, friendships and the people closest to him shaped the years he shared with others.
Michael’s family remembers him most through the love he had for his children. He was the father of Maddy, Travy, Lily and Journey, and through his longtime partnership with Jenny Gaffney, he also helped love and care for Zoey as his own.
His children were at the heart of his life. The time he spent with them, the memories they made together and the bond they shared will remain an important part of his legacy.
Michael is also remembered by loved ones as a partner, son, father, family member and friend whose sudden passing leaves a deep absence for those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael L. Alderson; paternal grandparents, Lavern “Red” Alderson and Charlotte Blunt; and maternal grandparents, Rodney and Janice Moore.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Hawkeye Community Hall, 102 E. Main St. in Hawkeye.
