CHARLES CITY – No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a semi tractor-trailer in Charles City.
The crash happened at approximately 8:25 a.m. on May 20, 2026, near 4th Avenue and E Street, according to the Charles City Police Department.
Police said a black 2004 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Brooke Brainard, 35, of Charles City, was traveling eastbound on 4th Avenue and attempted to make a left turn to travel north on E Street.
According to police, Brainard failed to yield the right of way and struck a gray 2019 Kenworth semi tractor-trailer head-on. The semi was driven by Justin Fox, 43, of Osage, and was traveling westbound on 4th Avenue.
Police estimated total property damage at $8,000.
Brainard was cited for failure to yield the right of way while making a left-hand turn. No injuries were reported.
