Bethel Carol Lemke, 90, of Clear Lake, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Cedar Ridge Village in West Des Moines.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, 1310 US HWY 18, Clear Lake, IA 50428 with Pastor Steve Bram officiating. Following the service the family will host a reception in the fellowship hall. Interment will be held at the Meservey Cemetery.

Donations and Memorials may be directed to Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church and Hospice of the Midwest.

Bethel Carol Lemke, daughter of Harold and Ruth (Lenz) Haberkamp, was born on November 25, 1935. Bethel graduated from Garner High School with the class of 1953. She went to Luther College, Decorah, Ia.

Bethel taught school at Belmond, Clear Lake, and Meservey.

On April 9, 1960 she married Ferd Lemke at Peace Reform Church of Garner. They farmed on

the Century Farm, established in 1876 in Meservey, Iowa, until they retired in 2011. They moved to Clear Lake in 2011.

Bethel enjoyed traveling with Ferd for many years to Florida having been in all 50 states.

Bethel enjoyed her flowers, coffee groups, bible study group, golfing, fishing, and going to her grandchildren’s activities.

Left to treasure her memory are her two daughters, Beth (Scott) Newhard of Van Meter, IA, and Kay (Brian) Hrubes of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Robert (Olga) Beran, Zachariah (Shelby) Kasper, Ezekiel (Sarah) Kasper, Christopher (Laura) Hrubes, and Eric (Kayla) Hrubes; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ferd Lemke; her parents; sister, Beverly (Ernest) Helgren; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Charles) Lynde.
