Julie Ann Kinne, the daughter of Luther and Joann (Schadendorf) Kinne, was born August 28, 1964, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt, Iowa. At a very young age, Julie was the epitome of love. She attended the Peter Pan School in Algona and was one of the first residents of Shepherd’s Cottage. While there, she participated in Special Olympics and won a blue and red ribbon for long jump and the 50-yard dash. She graduated from Shepherd’s Cottage and moved to the East Home where one of her favorite jobs was sorting Mountain Dew and Pepsi cans. She loved to help the staff with errands and was often seen going office to office emptying trash cans.

Her love of jewelry, M&M’s, pennies and Sesame Street were known to all. You very rarely saw Julie without her purse, books, or magazines. Her visits to Grandma’s were always a special treat. Julie enjoyed going on many field trips and wherever she went, it seemed she always knew someone. She would always greet them like an old friend with a “gimme a hug” and “you’re so cute” or “you’re so smart”.

Julie also loved to sing. Whether in season or not, you would often get her to belt out a rendition of Jingle Bells. Her other favorites were Jesus Loves Me, This Old Man, plus many other Christmas and nursery rhyme songs.

Julie and Mom are together now and left to cherish her memory are siblings Dafawn (Joe) Hragyil, Oak Creek, CO; Scott Kinne, Oak Creek, CO; Sue Gonzalez, Tempe, AZ; Tammy Gridley, Dumont, IA; and Mark Kinne, Ames, IA; aunts Janet McGuire, Minneapolis, MN; Kathryn Schadendorf, Columbia Heights, MN; Sandra and husband Harold Harms, Titonka, IA; niece Jessica Gridley, nephews Christopher Wysocki, Tyler Gonzalez and numerous cousins. Julie was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Joann Kinne and her brother-in-law Tim Gridley.

Our family truly came to know what a blessing Julie was and made our family complete. Julie went to her heavenly home on December 12, 2025, at the age of 61.
