Mason City couple hospitalized after hit-and-run pickup driver strikes their golf cart

NORA SPRINGS - Authorities were called to a remote area near Nora Springs Friday night after a pickup truck driver smashed into a Mason City couple on a golf cart and fled the scene, leading to the victims in a hospital.

NORA SPRINGS – Authorities were called to a remote area near Nora Springs Friday night after a pickup truck driver smashed into a Mason City couple on a golf cart and fled the scene, leading to the victims in a hospital.

On September 19, 2025, at approximately 7:43 PM, a Cerro Gordo county deputy was dispatched to the Greenbelt County Park located in Nora Springs, Iowa. A collision between a golf cart and a unknown model of a pickup had been reported to authorities. As a result of the collision, Tom Faught of Mason City was the driver of the golf cart and sustained minor leg injuries while the passenger, Darlene Faught, also of Mason City, sustained a possible broken wrist.

Both where taken to MercyOne located in Mason City Iowa for their injuries. The driver of the pickup left the scene and was not located, and an investigation is still on going.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department and Nora Springs Fire Department.
