Rolland ‘Ron’ Engebretson, 85, of Sheffield, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at his home. Private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Hampton is caring for Ron and his family.
Rolland “Ron” Duwayne Engebretson, Jr. was born September 11, 1940, in Hampton, a son of Rolland, Sr. and Shirley (Hage) Engebretson. He graduated from Thornton High School in 1959. Ron worked for several area farmers for several years before taking over his parent’s family farm.
Ron was united in marriage with Marilyn Roggemann February 2, 1963, at his grandfather’s house who was the Baptist pastor in Sheffield at the time. After he farmed for 20 years he was unable to work due to health reasons.
Ron’s favorite times were spent taking each of his grandchildren fishing on their own. He enjoyed fishing and making lures. He enjoyed snowmobiling and playing cards with the neighbors and looked forward to his visits with Ed and Martin. Ron collected a large assortment of Matchbox cars and trinkets.
Cherishing his memory are his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; daughter: Lori (Chuck) Robison, Mason City; son: Dave (Babette) Engebretson, Clear Lake; grandchildren: Jessica Robison; Matt (Michelle) Robison; Amanda (Dustin) Brown; Taylor Redmond; Jayden (Alexia) Engebretson; Erika (Logan) Vietze; Bailey (Chris) Hett; great grandchildren: Abel, Oliver, Ryker, Chandler, Kingston, Mabel, Betty, Marshall and Bodie.
Rolland is preceded in death by his parents.
