RURAL FAYETTE COUNTY – Police say a young driver blew through a stop sign and slammed into this Northern Iowa man’s semi truck, causing many thousands of dollars in damages and a hospital trip.

On August 18, 2025, at 7:27 PM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi vs. car accident on Filmore Road at the intersection of Cedar Road. When deputies arrived, it was learned that a 2014 Nissan Murano operated by 21-year-old Jackson David Roushar of Cedar Rapids was driving northbound on Cedar Road when he ran the stop sign and collided with an eastbound 2014 Freightliner semi tractor trailer operated by 31-year-old Taran Jo Sherburne of Clarksville, Iowa.

Roushar was transported to a hospital for serious injuries, and his Nissan was a total loss.

The Freightliner had approximately $80,000 worth of damage.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wadena Fire, Elgin Fire & Ambulance, Gundersen Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol.

This accident remains under investigation and charges are pending, police say.
