ARROWHEAD LAKE, IOWA – A Northern Iowa woman was tragically killed when her Chevy Equinox crashed at a t-intersection apparently without braking, authorities say.
On Thursday, August 21, 2025, at approximately 10:49 PM, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office and Lake View Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash around Perkins Avenue (M68) and 340th Street at Arrowhead Lake.
Upon arrival, deputies/officers determined that a white 2018 Chevy Equinox had left the roadway and entered the ditch. The direction of travel from the tire patterns indicated no sudden braking or changing direction before the vehicle struck a tree.
The driver, 27-year-old Samantha Ann Nissen, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was sent to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office.
