MASON CITY – This Mason City vagabond torched a porch then battered another residence as she sought street justice upon a protected party shielded by a no contact order, but the court system served her a tasty helping of Judge Rustin Davenport and spineless local prosecution, allowing her to walk free awaiting a plea deal sentencing hearing set for 5 weeks in the future.
On June 17, 2025, at 8:14 am, people reported 46-year-old Shelby Ann Kloberdanz was at 814 N Federal Avenue in Mason City, breaking windows and being disorderly. Officers arrived to find Kloberdanz on the property. She allegedly threw an item through a window(s) and then tried to climb through broken window(s) to go after a person inside. The person inside is a protected party and Kloberdanz is the defendant related to a current, valid protective order. She was arrested on the following charges:
– Criminal Mischief, 3rd Degree (Damage $750-$1500
– Violating a No Contact Order
Kloberdanz (pictured at top) was taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail that morning and booked in at 10:43 AM. She was also charged with felony tampering with a witness.
Coincidentally, police became aware of other prior occasions from June 15 – June 17 where Kloberdanz visited this same area and allegedly violated the protective order. Officers charged her with 2 additional counts of NCO violations (from June 15-17) on June 18 while she was in jail on the June 17 incident.
Kloberdanz was also accused of setting fire to an occupied Mason City house causing evacuation, back in October of 2024. The cause of the fire remained under investigation until January 27, 2025, when Mason City police claimed they solved the crime. They brought a charge of felony first-degree arson against Kloberdanz. Allegedly, following some kind of altercation, she was spotted running from the scene of the incident.
Kloberdanz has reached a plea deal with local prosecutor Steven Tynan and judge Rustin Davenport on these cases on August 4. They set her free that day to roam the community as she awaits a sentencing hearing set for September 15.
