OBIT: Melody Ohumukini-Hoskinson

September 19, 1968 – August 2, 2025

Melody Kekui Ohumukini-Hoskinson, 56, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in her Mason City, Iowa home.

Per her wishes her body has been cremated and she will return home to California.

Melody was born on September 19, 1968, the daughter of Arthur and Violet (Lua) Ohumukini in Chico, California. She grew up in California and eventually graduated from Ridgway High School in Santa Rosa. She later went on to achieve her AA in Hospitality at the Santa Rosa Junior College.

In 2011 Melody made the move to Mason City, IA where she settled with her husband Robby Hoskinson.

Melody was a true social butterfly who loved being around people. Her door was always open, and she welcomed everyone with a warm heart and a big smile. She had a way of remembering names and making people feel seen and included.

She enjoyed spending time outdoors—especially BBQs at the lake, camping, and being in nature. She was proud of her Hawaiian heritage and loved sharing it through her Hula dancing. Music was a big part of her life, and she enjoyed all kinds.

Melody was a San Francisco 49ers fan and never missed a game. She loved her family and friends deeply and was always there when someone needed her. She gave everything even when she had nothing. That’s just the kind of person she was.

She will be missed by many and remembered for her kindness, her love for people, and the joy she brought with her wherever she went.

Melody is survived by her husband Robby Hoskinson Sr., children; Arthur Ohumukini, Russel (Felicity) Hoskinson, Robby Ohumukini-Hoskinson Jr. and Leilisa Hoskinson, sister Harmony (Calvin) Elam and many extended friends and family.

Melody was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Violet Ohumukini and son Jesse Lawrence Keawe Williams.
