CEDAR FALLS — Main Street Madness is back – and bigger than ever. The fourth annual edition of the fan-favorite event will return to downtown Cedar Falls on Thursday, September 25, with an exciting new feature: wrestling.

This year, in addition to the annual preseason celebration of UNI men’s and women’s basketball, Main Street Madness will welcome the UNI wrestling team, who will bring a wrestling mat right to the River Place Plaza for an unforgettable showcase.

The free, family-friendly event, made possible with support from SnapSports of Western Wisconsin & Eastern Iowa, offers Panther fans a unique opportunity to meet and interact with UNI student-athletes and coaches ahead of the 2025-26 athletic season.

In partnership with Community Main Street and River Place Plaza, vehicular traffic will again be blocked off along East 2nd and State Street near River Place Plaza, transforming downtown Cedar Falls into a sports arena like no other. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chair as seating options are limited.

The basketball portion of the event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. CT. Fans can look forward to:

Team introductions from UNI basketball
Comments from head coaches Ben Jacobson and Tanya Warren
Skill challenges
Giveaways and autograph sessions
Up-close access to Panther coaches and student-athletes
The Wrestling portion of the event is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT, under the lights of River Place Plaza. Fans can look forward to:

Introductions of the Panther Wrestling Team
Comments from National Coach of the Year Doug Schwab
Live wrestling demonstration from the UNI wrestlers
Fan interactive skill competitions
Autograph session
Up-close access to Panther coaches and student-athletes
Whether you’re a longtime Panther supporter or new to the UNI sports community, Main Street Madness is the perfect way to celebrate Panther pride and the start of another thrilling athletic season.
