THORNTON – An Iowa woman swerved to avoid a deer near Thornton late Thursday, and the Subaru Forester she was driving veered into a ditch and rolled, authorities say.
On May 22, 2025, at 11:16 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle rollover near the intersection of 130th Street and Eagle Avenue, just outside Thornton. The sheriff’s office says a green 2019 Subaru Forester, driven by 29-year-old Megan Frandsen of Des Moines was traveling southbound on Eagle Ave. when she swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway. This caused the vehicle to lose control and enter the Westbound ditch, resulting in a rollover and airbag deployment. The vehicle suffered significant damage from the rollover.
Frandsen declined medical attention at the scene but suffered minor injuries.
