Jack Norman Prestholt Jr., age 72, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home. Arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home.
Per his wishes, Jack will be cremated, and a visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Willow Run Lounge, 2821 Fourth St SW, Mason City. Jack will be laid to rest at the Clear Lake Municipal Cemetery with a private family graveside service.
Jack was born on February 5, 1953, in Mason City, to Jack Norman Prestholt Sr. and Shirley Mae (Bell) Prestholt. He attended Clear Lake schools and graduated in 1971 from Clear Lake High School. Jack then attended trade school at NIACC for carpentry. On May 24, 1975, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Berta “Betty” (De La Cruz) Prestholt at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. When they were first married, Jack worked for Heinkel Construction. He later began working as an antique dealer at the Olde Central Antique Mall and loved buying/selling antiques. He was Mason City’s own “American Picker, “and really enjoyed finding hidden gems and adding to his collections.
Jack was an outdoors person. He liked hunting, fishing and golfing. He had a soft heart for animals and regularly fed the ducks and squirrels that would come visit in his backyard. He dearly missed his companion, a boxer named Buddy who passed a year ago. Jack was the kind of person who could get a feral cat tamed. His hobbies also included cooking and baking (just about everything) and canning. Jack was excellent in the kitchen and made everything from bean soup to corn bread and brownies. He cared about his family and made sure to visit his mom every day, just to check in.
Those that knew Jack, knew he could be quite the jokester. He was a very social person who could visit with anyone and everyone he came across or met. He looked forward to having beverages with his buddies at the Willow or VFW. Jack will be dearly missed by everyone who loved and knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Berta Prestholt; sons: Derek (Dawn) Prestholt, Aaron (Dawn) Prestholt, James (Morgan) Prestholt and Michael Anthony Creviston-Prestholt; sisters: Jill (Kevin) Scharper and Julie (Tracy) Gobeli; grandchildren: D.J. (Ashley) Prestholt, Devon (Ryan) Lamarre, Drew Prestholt, Delanie Prestholt, Dylan Prestholt, Masen Prestholt, Jeseb Prestholt and Xavier Prestholt and great-grandchildren: Roman Lamarre, August Lamarre, Weston Lamarre and Amelia Prestholt.
He was reunited in heaven with his father, Jack Prestholt Sr.; brother, Russell Prestholt who passed in infancy, and many other extended family members.
