BURLINGTON, IOWA – An Iowa woman made a possibly awful decision by storming into a home with a knife and refused to leave, leading to a bad outcome.
Police say that on April 1, 2025, at approximately 10:51 PM, officers from the Burlington Police Department responded to the 900 block of N. 4th street regarding a possible burglary of a residence.
When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the suspect and identified her as 21-year-old Hailey Zahner of Burlington, Iowa. Upon interviewing victims on scene, officers learned that Zahner entered the residence and got into a physical altercation with the homeowner when asked to leave. During the altercation, Zahner allegedly displayed a knife.
Zahner was transported to the Des Moines County Jail and booked for the following charge:
– First-degree burglary (Class B Felony)
Zahner was held on $50,000 cash-only bond as she awaits a hearing set for April 11.
