Josefa Byrd, 71, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be directed towards the family of Josie Byrd.
Josepha “Josie” Byrd was born on January 29th, 1953, in Kingsville Texas. Josie was united in marriage to Emmanuel Thomas Byrd “Tom”, on October 19, 1974. Josie worked in food service or other service-related professions most of her life. Her get-up and go energy always kept her on the move, whether it was working, spending time with family, or doing crafts.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Benjamin (Megan) Byrd of Mason city, Margaret of Belmond, and Charlotte of Algona. Along with her siblings Norma, Carmen, Elida, George, Luis, and 9 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Emmanuel Byrd, and her parents Jesus and Jacinta Gonzalez.
The family would like to thank everyone for their many acts of support, kindness, and sympathy through these times.
