William Arnold “Bill” Smith, 64, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
Funeral Service will be held at 6:00pm Monday, December 9, 2024 at First Baptist Church, 125 E State St, Mason City, IA with Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the family.
Bill was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Paul and Dorothy (Hines) Smith. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Schlagle High School in 1978. Bill spent much of his life as the co-owner and operator of River City Roofing, in Mason City, building a successful career through hard work and dedication.
Bill appreciated the simple things in life. Whether cruising on his motorcycle or driving his Cadillac, he was often accompanied by the rhythms of his favorite music—especially the Blues and hits from the 1980s. He also liked grilling, particularly steaks, and spending time outdoors whenever he could. Bill often watched western movies and supported the Kansas City Chiefs Football team.
Remembered for his kind and easygoing nature, Bill had a way of connecting with people and making them feel welcome. He will be missed by those who knew and cared for him.
Those left to cherish memories of Bill are his son, Nick (Sandra) Smith, grandchildren, Levi and Alex Smith; significant other, Sarah Mapes; sister, Paula Swisher, nephew, Kevin Swisher, niece, Kimberly Wilson; as well as other extended family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Lindell Smith.
