OBIT: Shirley Ann Neve

Shirley Ann Neve, 86, passed away in her Nora Springs, Iowa home Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Sheckler Colonial Chapel.

Shirley Ann Neve, 86, passed away in her Nora Springs, Iowa home Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N Hawkeye Ave, Nora Springs IA, with Rolland Neve officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs, Iowa where military honors will take place.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday.

Shirley Ann McManus was born on January 14, 1938, to Marshall and Mabel (Robertson) McManus. A graduate of Nora Springs High School in 1955, following Shirley served in the Marines from April 1956 to July 1957. During her service, she married Kenneth Neve on December 28, 1956. Together, they built a loving home and raised seven children in the Nora Springs area.

In addition to her role as a devoted mother, Shirley dedicated herself to helping others. She worked as a nurse’s aide and medical aide and selflessly volunteered as an EMT.

Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church of Nora Springs and a leader in the local Girl Scout Troop. She found joy in simple pleasures, from breakfasts with friends and outings with the Birthday Card Club. She often could be found doing crochet, embroidery, and or watching The Young and the Restless.

Above all, Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, embracing her roles as a mother and grandmother with unwavering love and devotion.

Those left to cherish memories of Shirley are her children, Kathy Hoffman; Kay (Lee) Kibsgaard, John (Paula) Neve, Douglas (Lori) Neve, Karen (Ron) Portis, Susan (Terry) Tweed; daughter-in-law, Dea Neve; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Smith, Carolyn (LeRoy) Berding, Sandra Prescott, Michael (Mary Lou) McManus, Ann McManus; brother-in-law, Dennis Graurholz; as well as other extended family and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; son, Kevin; grandsons, Timothy Kellogg, and Cody Kellogg; brother, Norman McManus; sisters, Linda Hartwig, Mary Graurholz, and Alice Smith; and brother-in-law, Dennis Hartwig.
