STORM LAKE – The Storm Lake Police Department received numerous complaints regarding illegal activity at several vape shops, then obtained search warrants to take down the miscreants.

In response to these concerns, the Storm Lake police department initiated an investigation into allegations that several vape shops were selling prohibited items (vape products pictured at top via SLPD)in violation of state laws. As part of their investigation, individuals working undercover were sent into these businesses and were able to purchase illegal products.

Based on this evidence, search warrants were obtained and executed by officers, in collaboration with members of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Cannabis Regulation.

During these operations, detectives seized a significant number of illegal items from the following establishments:

– Storm Lake Vape and Smoke located at 609 Lake Avenue in Storm Lake

– R Smokes Plus located at 1417 N Lake Avenue in Storm Lake

Criminal charges have been filed, police say.

“We want to remind our community that using unregulated or illegal vape products can pose serious health risks,” police said.

“Many of these items contain harmful substances that could have dangerous effects, particularly for young people. Our priority is keeping you safe, and we will not tolerate businesses that operate outside the law and endanger public health. The Storm Lake Police Department will continue to work with City of Storm Lake officials and state agencies to ensure that local businesses comply with all city and state regulations. We encourage anyone with further information or concerns about illegal activity to contact us.”
