Linda Balvanz, 83, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Monday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Linda Balvanz was born April 27, 1941, in Marshalltown, Iowa to Claude and Georgia Carothers. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1959. She then attended Northwest Missouri State in Kirksville, Missouri with a Home Economics degree. She taught in Belton, Missouri and later moved to Iowa and taught in Belmond and Ackley, Iowa.
Linda married Marlyn on August 18, 1967, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Together they had two sons, Brian and Bruce. Linda taught preschool in Hampton at the Trinity Lutheran Church for several years.
Linda was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church and was involved in many church activities. She enjoyed her family and playing cards, sewing, knitting and gardening.
Linda is survived by her two sons Brian Balvanz, Bruce (Ranae) Balvanz, four step granddaughters, Kristine Rosol, Trisha Kaiser, Mandy (Ben) Bowman, Jennifer (Nick) Mitthun, as well as eight great grandchildren, her sister Jane (Terry) Hoffman, and six nieces and a nephew.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Marlyn, parents Claude and Georgia Carothers, her sister Patricia Johnson, and her brother John Carothers.
