Gary Vincent Steinberg, 80, was surrounded by his family when he was called home on August 26, 2024. He was greeted with a thunderstorm, which is the perfect welcome as his grandkids gave him the nickname “weatherman” as he was always talking about the weather. According to his wishes, private family services will be held.

Gary was born on November 21, 1943, in Buffalo Center, to Arthur and Lottie (Thorsheim) Steinberg. Gary was married to Linda Albers on November 27, 1965, in Buffalo Center, and later divorced. To this union were four daughters.

Gary is survived by his four daughters: Brenda Larsen of Osage, Tricia (Vic) Garry of Algona, Diane (Jerry) Price of Thompson and Mindy (Ande) Klapperich of Mason City; his grandchildren: Jake Larsen, Tanner (fiancé Josie O’Dell) Larsen, Dylan (fiancé Brandy Albrecht) Adams, Mitchell Price, Dalton (fiancé Kelsey Ferch) Adams, Jackson (Alyssa) Price, Katelin (fiancé Jackson Rosenmeyer) Adams, Maddie (fiancé Spencer Muhlbauer) Garry, Cade Gaskill, Luke Garry, Ty Gaskill, and Bella Klapperich; great grandchildren: Avrie, Sofiah, Karley, Blake, Paislee, Oaklee, and Leven; his sister, Janice (Gene) Nelson of Fort Dodge; his sister-in-law, Joed Steinberg of Twin Falls, ID; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Marilyn Dee; two brothers, Roger and Larry Steinberg; and a sister, Maxine Iverson.

You never had to wonder what he was thinking – he always gave his opinion, good or bad. His grandkids were his pride and joy and he spoke about them to whomever would listen. He loved fishing and collecting “stuff” which allowed many laughs and memories among his family and caregivers. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Timely Mission Nursing Home for the care they provided him over the past 4 years.
