CEDAR FALLS — The UNI women’s basketball team announced its 2024-25 non-conference schedule on Thursday morning. The schedule consists of 12 matchups starting with an exhibition contest on October 20 against Quincy, and finishing with a matchup at Iowa on December 20. Included in the slate is a three-game stretch at the 2024 Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Panthers will open the season on October 29 with an exhibition matchup inside the McLeod Center against the Quincy Hawks at 6 p.m. CT. A matchup with the Eagles with Wisconsin-La Crosse follows the exhibition on November 5 at 6 p.m. CT. A rematch of last season’s season-opening exhibition matchup, the Panthers and the Eagles will face off for the ninth time in program history and the first since 1982.
UNI hits the road for a contest at Green Bay on November 9. The Panthers and the Phoenix faced off inside the McLeod Center last season which saw a Panther victory by a final score of 78-67.
A two-game homestand will see Ball State come to town on November 16 for a 2 p.m. CT tip-off followed by a game against the Cyclones of Iowa State on November 20. That matchup tips off at 6 p.m. CT.
The Panthers head South over Thanksgiving weekend for the 2024 Paradise Jam Island Tournament. This will be the first time the Northern Iowa women’s basketball team has competed in this event since its inception in 2000. The Island Tournament tips off on Thanksgiving Day (November 28) when the Panthers will take on the Auburn Tigers in the first all-time meeting in program history at 4 p.m. AST / 3 p.m. CT tip time. November 29th will feature a matchup between the Panthers and Kansas with another 4 p.m. AST / 3 p.m. CT tip time. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between Northern Iowa and the Jayhawks and the first since 2006 when Kansas defeated the Panthers 59-49 in Lawrence. UNI will round out the tournament on November 30 in its first-ever matchup against Pittsburgh with a 1:30 p.m. AST / 12:30 p.m. CT tip.
A matchup against the Creighton Bluejays will be played inside the McLeod Center on December 7 at 2 p.m. CT before South Dakota comes to town for a 6 p.m. CT tipoff on December 10. The non-conference slate rounds out with two games on the road starting with a matchup at South Dakota State on December 14 and a Friday-night matchup at Iowa on December 20.
