Geneva “G.G.” W. Ulrich, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away July 22, 2024, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Friday July 26, 2024 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401 with Pastor Kent Mechler officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.
G.G. was born June 6, 1930 in Clear Lake, Iowa; daughter of Doris (McGowan) and Ernest Garlock. She attended Clear Lake High School. G.G. met the love of her life, Merlyn Ulrich right after he returned stateside from WWII. They enjoyed many dances at the Surf Ballroom and their courtship blossomed from there. They were united in marriage April 19, 1947 and to this union, one child was born.
Together they enjoyed many camping trips as well as evenings spent at the VFW Post 733. Family and her grandchildren were the most important things to her. She always loved to tease her grandchildren. In her later years, she was blessed with her small dog, Tiny. He brought her much comfort. She had a great deal of respect for her country and always admired the military as they continued to serve and protect it.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lark (Joseph) Trygstad; three grandchildren, Shane, Keith and Heather Gene Simon; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Chantal, Kylie, Katie, Grant, Emma, and Lilei; great-grandchild, Zayah; step-grandchildren, Jody Trygstad, Patrick (Laura) Trygstad, and Josh (Lacey) Trygstad; step-great-grandchildren, Alex, Dawson, Everett, Rory, Olivia, Anna, and Ella; sisters-in-law, Karen Garlock and Beverly Gates; beloved life long friend, Wanda Wulf; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Merlyn; parents, Doris and Ernest Garlock; siblings, Robert, Neil, and Larry Garlock, Barbara Blau, Elaine Wade and Nancy Jenkins; parents-in-law, Lloyd and Clara Ulrich; stepmother-in-law, Florence Ulrich; three brothers-in-law, Richard, Lowell and Ronald Ulrich; close cousin-in-law, Marvin Wade.
