Brad Allen Higgins, son of William and Susan (Tindall) Higgins, was born on August 8, 1969, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away with his wife and family by his side on July 17, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 54.
At a young age, Brad moved with his family to Colorado, where he graduated from Colorado Springs High School. Throughout his adult life he worked numerous jobs before returning to Iowa. He began work with Union Pacific as a conductor, where he was currently employed.
He met Michelle (Grant) Hancock in 2013 and quickly became her “Romeo”. The couple was united in marriage on June 10, 2017 and made their home in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Brad was a Harley Davidson fanatic, he loved his wind therapy, and riding out to Sturgis. In his free time, Brad and Michelle loved on their English Bulldogs. He also enjoyed “Papa Pancakes” with Bubba. Brad had a knack for shopping, always able to find just the right item for himself or his family members. Most of all, Brad enjoyed spending time and caring for his family. He will be fondly remembered as a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, had a calming presence, empathetic nature, and was very generous in every way.
Brad is survived by his wife Michelle Higgins of West Des Moines; his daughter, Samantha Hancock of Waukee; grandchildren, Raylan “Bubba” and Breccan “Squish” Mohrhauser; his mother Susan Higgins of Graettinger; his siblings Sandra (Stacey) Jones, Steven (Amanda) Higgins, and Julie Higgins; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Brad is preceded in death by his father, William Higgins.
